Iron Maiden O2 August
« on: June 26, 2013, 06:38:41 PM »
I just got tickets for the Seventh Son based date... and I'm going with the same friends from school I saw the original "Seventh Tour" show at Wembley Arena.

Maiden in 1988 was the best gig I've ever been to.

...Now if Janick gets a light bit of food poisoning the day before and can't make the show, it could be perfect.  :P

Congrats! Great album, great live band and the setting you got by taking your mates is just perfect.

Iīve seen Maiden live two times when they were at Wacken Open Air. One was kind of a best of show (Somewhere back in time tour) and the other focused more on the Brave New World era.
Both pretty darn amazing.

Bruce is an animal still these days, sprinting around stage like he gets money for miles and after crossing the giant stage in a spring still holds a high tone better than 99% of the young blokes around. THAT is freaking awesome.

And Janick ainīt too bad. Look at him as the comic relief of the thing. While you do wonder sometimes if his guitar is even plugged in his throwing the thing around can be rather entertaining....although I must admit I somewhat wish to see him crash and burn xD

This will be the fourth time I see them.. The second with Adrian Smith (very important to me).

The "Somewhere back in time" tour was the only other tour since Adrian came back that I was gutted to miss.

I don't think too much of any of the later stuff apart from Wicker Man.

The set list looks perfect.

You will not be disappointed! I have tickets for the O2 in august (7th son is my favourite album and this will be the 6th time ive seen them)

Saw them last saturday at the Hallenstadion in Zurich (wedding gift from the wife), the set list is very well put together and Janick was on fire that night

While I for some reason really like Dance of Dead (while not classic Maiden style all through I totally dig it), I can generally somewhat agree. However they time and again produce great songs. For example "Brighter than a thousand suns" from "A matter of life and death" is just such classic Maiden that it can fit into any of their setlists as far as I am concerned. Also "When the wild wind blows" from their latest album has a certain something to it too which I really dig.

And yeah, that setlist looks bloody great.
Throw in "Heaven can wait", "Powerslave", "Running Free", "Dance of the dead" and "Brighter than a thousand suns" and you pretty much got my absolute dream Maiden setlist.

I just watched a replay of the Flight 666-documentary on Belgian television. They're just a great liveband and excellent performers. And still are. I'd like to see them (again).

In view of the achievements as one of Britain's finest musical exports, it is criminal the way they are underestimated by the mainstream but to be honest...

That's just the way we like it!

I almost bought a ticket today, but I see that entry is by credit card and you have to have photo ID!  :(

I think the ticketing system is great because you even had a chance of booking a ticket.

I'm sick of blocks of tickets never making their way into the hands of fans trying from box office openning only to appear on secondary sites at vastly inflated prices.

Fair point, but I'm not going to pay for a new passport just to get to see Maiden.

If only they'd brought in ID cards....   :P

Annoyingly, they've announced another date at the O2. I was looking forward to seeing the last date on the tour and now its the penultimate show, same thing happened on the final frontier tour.

I missed them the last time they were down here in Australia.  I was so sick with flu I couldn't face a two hour car ride to get to see them.   :(  Hope they come back.

saw an advert at liverpool street station for this.

its easy to forget how big maiden are. they still seem like a niche underground band!
