Got the email and was quite excited, looked at the bank balance and decided I couldn't really justify it. Got home and there's a cheeky little tax rebate waiting, pickups ordered! Don't know whether they'll go in my LP or SG yet, though!

Man I wanne fly over there right now and shoot that! You could make a great miniseries documentary out of that.

Each week Philly pulls something out from under the bed and talks about whatever he got. Storys, history, all the good stuff. Put in some archive shots, mayb some remote interviews with people like Tim or the guys from Warmoth. Finish it off with some old guy with a low voice narrating it while piano and cello music playing in the background to lend it a bit of gravitas.
Bäm, you got a programm!

And as the season finally we film him actually putting on of those parts to use! The papers would go mad.

We love you Philly!

Include interviews with Ebay buyers of his artifacts who have owned items temporarily prior to Philly buying them back.

The end segment would consist of getting Philly out of his house on a pretext while a team assemble all his parts into finished guitars... (which he can then sell on ebay) prior to buying more parts  :P

(We do love you Philly  :))

Guys, I'm genuinely touched.  Those (most excellent) posts were like a late birthday present.  :D

I actually assume that I am gonna pull-a-philly™ on these PUs.
On one hand none of my current axes got empty space and on the other none of them really would befit a pickup of this gravitude.

So I shall for now pay tribute to the curator of parts of the ages and meanwhile start thinking about what I want my first custom axe to be. Then I gotta see how the first year of uni does affect my money and maybe if I am lucky get a first payment down on a Feline Custom I can put these beautis in.

I actually have been thinking mostly about what PUs I want in my first custom and then these come along and seem perfect as I really was between the Stormy, Blue note and the PG Blues.
Now I am thinking these in some sort of a Fender scale Les Paul with 24 frets, but sides that rather classic design should be really swell...so many things to think about and research =)

I bet these would be great in my 339. I do like the stock pickups but you know how the grass is always greener? Thats about how I am feeling at the moment.

having been utterly sure and steadfast for the last while that I couldn't afford any new gear, I have just ordered a set of these :)

I'm putting these 10th anniversary BKPs in my Gibson 100th anniversary flying V, both of which were limited to 100 units.  I had been hmming and hahing for a long time about whether I should change the pickups in it, but when I saw these it just felt right.  hopefully the engraving won't stand out too much, but it should sound wonderful! :)

Shall I just hang on to them till you are ready for a guitar to be built around them

Could actually almost do that, but I wanne enjoy that new pickup smell and look at them from time to time to keep me inspired to plan the guitar and practise playing so I can justify actually getting a custom ;)
Use them as somewhat of a carrot on a stick kinda thing.
I would guess realisticly the earliest possible time to put down a payment and get things going would be like 9-10 months from now. Really gotta see how my bank acount shapes out first. Should give me time to plan and practice so all is good.

Will take me a lot of time alone to figure out the neck I want. And when I am done planning I might even think about flying out to London for a weekend to drop by and get the final order in, looking at some of your suggestions to see how they would fit me and stuff....all in the future.

I also really wonder how many of these PUs will fall into the hands of forum members here.

Well I just ordered a set.   As a fan of Stormy Monday's, PG Blues and having an AII Mule set too, I know I'll like these.  The question is which guitar will get them!
So many pickups, so little time

Pretty sure that mine will end up in my LP-- will have to shift the MQ and Black Dog to the SG, but I don't think that'll be a bad thing... MQ in an SG? Don't mind if I do! Providing i'm still working at this studio when I get the pickups, i'll get some nice recordings done to hopefully do them some justice.

I was wondering if anyone tried the Aftermath in HSS start and can share his opinion?
Really liked the pickup but I don't have any idea how it will sound on my Strat

What does the AII mule set sound like? I would guess a bit mellower than the standard Mule?
