After e-mailing Tim regarding these pups as I am using A4 Mules at the moment for the stuff I am covering which is Classic rock. Hope this helps anyone who was wondering, seems like they will cover a lot of ground

they're quite different actually. Being AII powered they're very much
sweeter in the high end and with the aged magnets, extremely clear and
detailed. Not quite so much power as The Mule but .more than enough for
the majority of applications and easily man enough for hard rock even.
It's not a case of 'better' than The Mule, it's more a complimentary
vintage voice and tonal colour.  If you like that classic Kossoff vocal
delivery, you'll love these.

I also ordered a set of these, unpotted (raw nickel cover).

The Kossoff reference sold me plus the info I got from Tim:

"yes, this set is perfect for a tone similar to Slash on AFD"

(Btw, hi guys - BKP newbie here  :D )

God damn it, this is not helping me not to buy a set!
Am usually very much a high output pickup guy, but I have been gasing for some low output pups for quite a while and been hesitating...these sound right up my street...sigh...

Must admit I am getting increasingly tempted, even though I'm generally not the biggest fan of AII humbuckers, or of Mr Slash..... I wonder how many sets have sold already?  :?

They sound like they would have to go in a Les Paul or maybe a 335.

Well I just ordered a set.   As a fan of Stormy Monday's, PG Blues and having an AII Mule set too, I know I'll like these.  The question is which guitar will get them!

What does the AII mule set sound like? I would guess a bit mellower than the standard Mule?

I got them for a PRS style hollowbody that was quite bright.  They mellowed it out really nicely but still keep a good note definition and can get a very nice crunch tone when pushing the amp.  I haven't tried them in anything else as they were perfect for the guitar.
So many pickups, so little time

They actually sound like they'll be really good and I think the  bridge model could work well in one of my guitars - pity they are only available as a limited edition with that engraved cover. I wonder if Tim will ever release a 'normal' version of these pickups.

They sound like they would have to go in a Les Paul or maybe a 335.

That was my basic impression from what Tim told me. My guitars are a bit brighter than a Les Paul and he didn't seem to think they would sound big enough for what I wanted.

I have got a couple of guitars that would suit them pretty nicely (I think)..... but I do have a nagging feeling I'd be buying more because they're a special edition than because I really want those pickups.

You may have a couple of guitars that would suit them but the same could be said for most of what's apparently under your bed!  :D
