low string
« on: June 30, 2013, 09:06:45 PM »
So I have a schecter hellraiser C-8
26.5" scale, neck through design
I play in drop F
I was going to use an .80 guage string but I first want to see how much string tension that will have and if my guitar could handle that much.
how can I find that out?

0.080? seems like a bit to much to me. isnt .072 enough? :/

it came with a 74, and while thats fine for 28" and beyond, the low F was a little too loose for my liking. the other 7 strings are very taut.

Can't you just buy the string and try it out in person? Seems like a worthwhile thing for the $2 investment...

well to do it I'd have to drill out the tuner just a tiny  bit. so I wanted to make sure it wouldnt be too much before I did that. I've never done guitar work like that before haha

I find it hard enough getting a 68 in a guitar shop. I guess the upside is you can get your strings from Screwfix?
