FINALLY close to getting the actual tone of the SPLAWN !!!

This clip came out rather well; it's the closest I've come to digitally capturing  the actual tone of the Splawn Quick Rod at close range.

Once again, it's my VHII-loaded Strat with zero effects.

That sounds amazing. With a touch more bass I'd be in love with the tone!

The cabs I use have reeeally tight bass. I'm thinking, with a different cab (or an EQ), you can probably get more 'thunk' from the amp. I prefer a leaner tone, old school tone, which is what you hear. I've heard more low end from the Splawn cabs, too ...

Looking at your recent clips, TO, would you say you are using your VHII strat more than your other guitars now? Is that the 'main' guitar/amp setup now - VHII-->Splawn?
The large print giveth, and the small print taketh away...

wow that competition head looks wicked! how do splawns compare with say a marshall in the same price bracket? (if we're talking about the quick rod that is)

Nah, that's just the way it works out sometimes.
The other guitar in the vid, the green Kamikaze, is my main writing guitar.

What's the gain like on these amps, compared to a 5150  or similar for example? Do they have plenty?

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking here.  The Splawn is a modded Marshall lover's dream amp. It has plenty of gain for what I do. I've never compared it to a 5150, so I couldn't tell you.  That clip is played on the middle gain voicing. There is one setting more that has additional gain, but I would only use that for tracking solos, not riff-work.

Sounds great. But still I agree with the others about the bass. A riff raff SG and a bit more bass in the EQ would nail that old AC/DC tone.

What you have now is a great old skool Maiden type of tone.

No, it's not very clear is it..haha. I was referring to the amount of gain on tap.

Sounds great Ben! The neck on your Strat looks like its getting some use, is that the Gajic neck?

That video of those two blokes having a punch up, is that Igor from your band or is that a coincidence?!!
