slow hands on their way!!!
« on: July 03, 2013, 09:45:52 PM »
just managed to bag a set of slow hands all with base plates ready for my B'day this saturday. (yeehaw)
trouble is i've just put a  mississippi queen neck pup in the bridge of my strat and i'm really liking it. i was gonna get a neck and middle slow hands to team up with the MQ, but now i have a full set coming, do i ditch the MQ for the SH bridge?
before i start dismantling my strat again, has anyone got a slow hand bridge with baseplate that can tell me a bit about it.  i was liking the MQ as it was nice and full sounding without being bloated and it drives beautifully too.
what do ya reckon folks?

What I can say is that I love my slowhand middle. Also bridgeplates are, judging from clips, pretty amazing and I would be very tempted to get a full baseplate set too when I get a strat.

I would deffo at one point try the Slowhand bridge too. After all trying is the only way to know which you like better. Only you can decide which you wanne try first. It is also dependant on how much work it is and such. To get the results quickest you might wanne try the SH bridge now since you already have the MQ in you ear. That way you can quickly find out which bridge you like better.
Then it is a question of how well they work with the rest for you taste.

In my mind the SH with bridgeplate should be a very very nice PU. To imagine a SH with more bottom end and hotness makes it come closer to a P90, maybe stricking quite a great balance between start SC and P90.
What my non baseplate SH middle does is amazing enough.

Main thing is that both will probably be pretty great, now you just gotta find out which you like better in that axe.

Yep I think some experimentation is gonna be the order of the day. I might get some new pots and a switch and make up the original SSS scratch plate so I can swap between the slow hands and the MQ more easily.

Interesting experiment, as a Slowhand with baseplate should have some P90-esque flavour. How the SH with baseplate compares to a regular MQ-bridge? I don't own neither of them, but I quess we're going from fat to fatter...
