Clear neck to fit with rebel yell bridge
« on: July 10, 2013, 11:39:09 PM »
Hi guys! Following your recomendations from my last thread i decided to go with the holy diver or rebel yell bridge as some of you told me the nailbomb would be agressive and too close to the miracle man and after watching and reading about everything i found on those two, i think ill like the rebel yell more since this guitar is heavy in the low mids already.  Now id like to know wich neck pickup would compliment it well. So far i played the cold sweat neck wich i liked a lot for modern fluid sweep and solos and the miracle man neck wich i didnt liked too much...too smooth and bass heavy. For this guitar i think id like something more clear and vintage sounding but that would still match well with the output of the rebel yell bridge. Something maybe less dense and modern than the cold sweat with still a good clarity and good highs. What are the recommended neck pickups that fits well with the rebel yell?

The obvious answer here would be to go with the calibrated set, especially given that reports on this one all seem to indicate that it can do what you want, in that it is based on the Cold Sweat neck but modified in a way that makes it a better fit with the Rebel Yell bridge.

There's a thread on the differences between the RY and CS necks here.

They seem to be very slight, although the changes seem to be heading in the right direction for you.

There are others that might work very well for you, but if your guitar is middy a RY set would seem to be a safe bet, although others might recommend an Emerald or VHII

Ho that seems very interesting, i remember reading that the rebel yell neck was same as the cold sweat thats why i was looking for something else but if its a mix of the vhii and cold sweat than it could be what i want. Do you know how is the vhii compared to the cold sweat?

Well I don't have any experience of the VHII, only the Cold Sweat.

It is listed in the 'Vintage Hot' category but I believe it has at some point been in the 'Contemporary' category, so it straddles the two.

There are quite a few threads if you use search in good with

vhii cold sweat bkp

Here's one of them:
