What would be the closest Malmsteen BK pickup?

Title says it all...If there is what would be in your opinioins the closest Y.Malmsteen pickup(s) for glassy/icy/meaty neck pickup?If there is a such a thing,let me know..Thanks in advance....

Well the Trilogy Suit is named after him isnīt it? So I would have a look at those. Of course not quaranteed success but the best starting point.

Agreed.  For an "out of the box" YJM pickup I guess the Trilogy Suite is the place to start.

But then again if you were replicating the rest of his gear - huge walls of '70s Marshalls etc - I guess you might be better off with some more vintage-style single coils.  Or some stacked DiMarzios or Duncans.

Ok,the only thing is that from demos they do not sound anything like Malmsteen sound to my ears,there is no that quack strat sound at all,and also that icy/glassy tone i can`t hear either...Maybe I`ll needs to find some youtube clips..

No I planning it just for studio recordings,and most of my gear are from PODX3 Pro,and for Vintage sounds I have old Acoustic amp from `78.I know without Marshall it will not sound as close as Malmsteen tone,but again I need to find pickups who can have that tonal colour characteristics...Cheers.
And the only thing I was not mentioned is that it is a 7 string strat,so I can`t use vintage style Di Marzios or Duncans in them cause they do not make it for 7...

I could be wrong, but there probably aren't many people on the forum with much experience comparing the seven-string Strat models.

If you want to sound exactly like him you need dimarzios YJM or old HS3's, a 50w plexi and a RAT pedal. Also G12-T 75 speakers. Also 0.08 gauge strings.

If you want a pickup that can do this and more, go for the Trilogies then. I own a set and it does everything from deep purple to malmsteen very well. It is a bit dark, good for bright strats to balance the tone, and it is more modern sounding, that's why it does not have much "twang" or "quack" as you said. Honestly I can't hear much of a true single coil in Malmsteen's tone...

a Marshall, a DOD250 and some reasonably chunky strat pickups and you can get the malmsteen tone.

his sound is alot about the note attack and his vibrato technique too.

It's funny you mention this as I got a preset on Guitar Rig, and even with the stock singles in my guitar, I can pull off a convincing Malmsteen tone. I think a lot comes from the EQ with the Marshall and DOD pedal. There's something about this setting that if I adjust the amps EQ at all, it sounds less like his tone. So whoever made the preset got it spot on! I'd love to try some Dimarzio HS3s through it to see how it sounds though :)

Hmm - to my ears the Malmsteen sound is not the typical strat sound. I don't hear any quack in his tone. Glassy - yes - it's a smooth glassiness on the neck pickup leads but I don't think that this comes from the pickups necessarily. Much of it is the Marshalls boosted with a preamp. The old HS-3 was a smooth pickup, too. I think Trilogy Suite would be good for this.

The Di Marzio HS3 were vintage sounding and had that Stevie Ray Vaughan type tone but also handled hi gain shred and riffs well too....excellent pickups.  I'm sure the trilogy pickups would cover the hi gain shreddy arpeggios and alt picking though.

Think for BKP either the Irish Tours or Trilogy Suite.
