jack socket connections/ speaker cab

I just bought an unloaded 1x12 cab from thomman and the jack socket has 6 legs. wtf. By looking at it and inserting a jack i can see the tip is the end leg furthest away from input and the sleeve can be any of the other 2 on the same side. Why are there 3 legs on the other side?
Appreciate anyone who could be bothered answering.

when there is no jack in teh socket there is probably a connection made across the legs from one side to the other. putting in a jack normally lifts a bit of metal and breaks a connection across the jack. 6 legs sounds like a stereo switching jack.

Yes it's as you say, inserting jack breaks the connection. Anyway it works but i'd have been more comfortable with 2 connections, after all it can only ever need 2.
