I phoned up Tim while deciding what pickups i wanted for my seven string. I have fallen in love with the nailbombs in my other Ibanez ( both are nailbombs ) and wanted a little change for my seven. I was thinking warpigs, but finally came to the decision of the nailbomb but this time going with the cold sweat. I told Tim i wanted a Petrucci, clean sounding neck tone as i do most of my shredding on the neck pup.

I cant really say which is my favourite, they both are awesome. If you do get another set of pups try out the nailbomb cold sweat combo, really is amazing.

Thanks for the other comments, sorry Sambo, i dont know what the problem is. I would offer to send it in an email, but my internet is all screwy and had to send this to a friend to actually upload it.

That's funny, I got the exact same advice from Tim. I too am a sevenstringer (ESP LTD M207) Playing a somewhat dynamic metal along the lines of bands like Opeth and dreamtheater (without the insane leads cuz I'm the only guitarist) and many more varrying from trash to mellow/emo kinda metal and prog. Rock/blues/jazz/ballad. Also in need of a screaming bridge pickups and a very nice clean bass pickup, I am wondering how they will sound if I use them both clean, with a nice little acoustic sim through a fendertwin reverb and marhall cab (all of that's in my Vox Tonelab SE). And ofcourse I can't wait to hear my own riffs through that baby, I'll be sure I'll post some stuff here.....
7-String Violence........so much better then silence

im going to stick a cold sweat in the neck of my strat to get that petrucci lead tone, i've got a great sounding hand made amp that arrived yesterday really sounds like the Mk IV. the VHII i've got in the neck at the moment is great for those big jazz paf sounding chords but it doesnt work live in high gain situations as nice as i thought and it does feedback sometimes not often though.

Excellent clip there, i love that lead tone! Very Petrucci like, if thats how you spell his name! I was going to go with a Cold Sweat in the neck too.

Yea the cold sweat's been in my guitar for a month or so now and It still suprises me everytime I play, my friend thom also likes the Cold Sweat in the neck.. Although im starting to like his Nailbomb more than my Miracle Man for the bridge, which could mean me buying a Nailbomb.. eek.
