Nine Of Swords pedals: Your Experience
« on: August 04, 2013, 01:59:11 PM »
Hey all,

Looking into pedals now that I think I can finally get the most out of them (cranked my valve amp for the first time in a live room last week... sweet jebus!)

I have a friend who swears by Nine Of Swords, he's had the Tyrant and Twin Earth, and I loved the sound of those when he showed me them at his place a while ago. Just wondered if any of you Fuzz maniacs had ever tried them and what your experience with them was like?

I'm new to Fuzz, so I've not had anything to compare them to, but they are very reasonably priced.

:D Yeah that's why my mate likes them, heh. He let me borrow the Tyrant once, but I only had my Pod to put it through which really doesn't work at all. If he were still nearby I'd ask to borrow it again, but he lives on the other side of the country to me these days.

I have no experience with these, but when looked for possible Fuzz pedals to build for a mate of mine who loves nasty and lo fi fuzz I came across Devi Ever Disaster Fuzz, Death by Audio Supersonic Fuzz Gun, Death by Audio Harmonic Transformer, Dwarfcraft Great Destroyer and Devi Ever Legends of Fuzz.

I picked these out of a big list of schematics looking for lo fi nastyness and just out of controll crazyness.
I have not yet build any of these though cause enclousures cost money xD

Also great is the Zvex Fuzz Factory, especially if you have someone build a clone for which includes a tonestack (which I think should be post circuit). The stack allows it to even be a mean metal machine when it would normally not work since you can cut the bass. Fuzz is great but usually better for single notes than chords, exept if you cut the bass.
BKPs in use: 10th set / RY set / Holy Diver b, Emerald n / Crawler bridge, Slowhand mid MQ neck/ Manhattan n
On the sidelines: Stockholm b / Suppermassive n, Mule n, AM set, IT mid

Aye, the prices do seem to be very low. I have to wonder if it's more a labour of love for this guy.

Has to be, even doing it on vero and simple circuits I can't see him paying himself much more than £15 per pedal there.

I've got to admit the 'satanic fuzz ritual' seems like a lot of fun

it seems too cheap though, might buy one.

I don't know how to post pics and I wouldn't know if its good or bad wiring!

This thing has a shed load of output and low end. I'm a little scared/in awe.
