This just gets better and better! Haha! Just a matter of choosing the design now! Covered or uncovered? And what color? I'll probably spend as much time deciding on the aesthetics as deciding the actual pickup!

While the aesthetics are mostly a matter of personal taste there is one thing you might want to concider tonally and that is covered vs uncovered.
There is a tonal difference in that the cover takes a bit of treble away, makes it more rounded making uncovered PUs sound a bit more open. BKP do make the difference smaller by adjusting the wind slightly, but there still is a difference.
This, just like all the BKP tutorials, is very helpful in that. Nolly rocks btw.

I would however advocate for you to go by optical measures only as the difference is so small that it is super easily adjusted at the amp or pedal stage.

Oh and btw, you might wanne concider changing the pots and caps while you are at it to get the most out of your new PUs. The pot part here only applys if you are not going for push pull wiring options.
The BKP 550k customs come highly recommended being very close to spec and a little over the normal 500k giving you that extra tad of openness and treble, which btw can also make up for covers compared to normal pots.
On the cap side the BKP Jensen ones are very good but very big too. Generally paper in oil caps are pretty nice, but if you can get them at a resonable price Orange Drops are also very cool, they are what I use.

Plus you might wanne concider either adding a treble bleed to the volume pot or go 50s wiring to keep treble being rolled off when you roll off the volume if that is something you donīt like. I like the 50s but it also changes the taper of the volume pot and the interaction between tone and volume, which is something I like, my volume now reacts more on the first third, which I really dig.

And yeah, series / parallel or a split version (with resistor as I recommended) is always cool.

With my SG I was able to get a full harness from a guy named Tim Mason at SCS Customs in southern NSW via ebay.  He doesn't keep such harnesses for Ibanez but he has a lot of different capacitors including some Russian ones that are popular for deathcore etc, various kinds of switches etc.  As you are based in Australia he's worth checking out as he keeps a lot of the little things you might need. My harness came with WD Music oil in paper caps.

So I just got some more input from the SS.org forum. A couple of users said Warpig, Nick (Zimbloth) said Blackhawk. Interesting the varying opinions! I think I'll do some research into the Black Hawk after work, and see what I can find. Either way, I'm learning a heap of stuff about pickup character. I'll check back after work.
Thanks for the heads up on the guy in NSW.  :)

The Black Hawk seems to be mentioned more on the SS forum than here.  I keep forgetting about it.  Anyway it's worth checking out.

One thing I wish I had done with my SG (and might still do) is shield the cavity with conductive paint and foil.  My Explorer has it and I think it makes a difference with high-output passive pickups.  Iommi has shielding in all of his guitars for good reason.

And so after all that, I've decided to go with... The Black Hawk
After hours of research, reviews, soundclips and some thinking time I've decided to take the plunge! The Black Hawk seems to get me a bit of everything from all the pickups I've been looking at. Of course I'll only know when I get it! I'll be doing a before and after comparison when I get it which should be fun!
Thank you for all your input guys! It's been a tremendous help!
Cheers!

Are you going ceramic or alnico?

Either way be sure to get back to us with the results and if you can be bothered write up a review of the BH for us, we need more of those. We gotta hear more on the BH in general.

Well this I can certainly get used to, getting all name dropped and stuff :D If tightness is more important than pure blunt force trauma you probably did the right thing not getting warpigs. The feel of those pickups is that of a massive cave man club, I just want to go out and batter mastodons to death with them. However, if you're used to playing dryer, tighter pickups like emgs, aftermaths ect they really might not fit ones playing style at all, took me some time to figure out I had to WORK DAMMIT for them to sound tight!

It sure is! Just got a orange 4x12 with v30 to replace my or412 with g12t-75 but I haven't managed to sell it yet, so I thought 'why not use em' all!'.

Yeah i probably look the opposite of metal :(
