Thanks, there's some great suggestions there but before I spend the thick end of £100 on some new tuners it would make sense to take a look at this nut issue as that is potentially a rather cheaper fix and certainly a cheaper upgrade. Is there a specific material that works best? I'm assuming either metal or bone would be best based only on the fact that they seem to be the most expensive options.

I recently got this guy to make me a bone nut, he'll do an exact copy of your old one, on all guitars I just get him to make me a new bone replacement. http://www.chrisalsopguitar.co.uk/ check his ebay shop. Well worth the cost, it's not expensive really.

I`ve been using Sperzel Locking tuners for about over a year now and they are brilliant. Cannot complain at all. Highly recommended.

I'm going to try some Big Bends Nut Sauce before I make any mods to the nut or tuners on my SG.

Worst part is, I didn't think of it as sauce to put on your nuts, but rather sauce from your nuts.

I must be a 14 year old schoolboy myself
