Tremolo Post - Fixable?
« on: August 26, 2013, 08:49:50 AM »
Hey, Guys.

Got a problem with one of the trem posts in my Charvel - it's been like it for a while, and the guitar works fine; but I'd like to fix it if possible.

It looks to me as if the metal thingy (technical term - sorry) that pushes into the guitar body - and which the trem post screws in to - has come lose.  I can now push it freely into the body.

Now, the tension of the strings and springs means that everything stays in place - although if I push heavily on the trem, I can make the bass side sink further into the body.

Is this something I can fix with a wooden shim, matchsticks or the like?  Or would I need to drill out, add a dowel, and redrill?

is it sinking downwards into the body or actually towards the neck crushing the wood?

If its just loose in the hole you can wrap some electrical tape around the post and it should fit in snugly.

If its actually leaning in the body then I think you may need to fill and redrill but thats just a guess
