Pickups for all mahogany PRS
« on: August 29, 2013, 12:41:09 PM »
Hey guys

I'm looking at giving my old Paul Reed Smith singlecut (les paul shapeish) some love and fitting some new pickups.

I play in a symphonic/gothic/power band with a female singer, I've lost track of what names they get given. But essentially nightwish and epic style. And the guitars set up in D standard.

I'd like to pretty much avoid EMGs and Active Pickups, and stick to BKP/Dimarzios/Seymour Duncan

Cheers for any help

I have Rebel Yells in an all mahogany PRS standard and they are a great set which may cover everything you need.  Another option which doesn't get enough love here is the Emerald set.  I have them in an all mahogany LP custom and they sound great in it.  They really sing and have lovely harmonics.
So many pickups, so little time

Rebell Yells or emeralds sounds like good options.
Mississippi Queens, Stormy Monday/Apaches, Emeralds, Nailbomb (bridge)

Love my Rebel Yells  but for these bands I would have said Nailbomb.

Cheers Stephan

+1, you need the bass from the NB's for these styles.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.
