First BKP on the way
« on: September 02, 2013, 02:53:41 AM »
Just ordered my first BKP last night.  I'm replacing the stock PRS #7 pickup in my 2001 PRS Singlecut with a Painkiller based on Ben's suggestion when I emailed BKP.  I'm be sure to post a full review once I get it and install it.

Great, i have a Painkiller still in the box with a neck Riff Raff for a mahogany guitar when i get some time spare to fit them.

Cool.  I'm going to try leaving the stock PRS #7 in the neck, as I have no complaints there.  I rarely use both pickups at the same time (though it would be great if they end up working well together) so as long as I can get volume levels to match between the 2 pickups I should be good.

Yeah, I've heard they are addictive and I'm excited/scared that I will feel the need to replace the pups in all my guitars with BKP's.  I've got 5 guitars so that could get very expensive quickly.

Never played a Painkiller but it surely will be completely different from the PRS #7 Treble - louder, brighter, more punch and more aggression. The #7 is an OK pickup IMHO. You will probably want to replace that PRS #7 Bass as soon as you can.

Cheers Stephan

I beleave there's no way to avoid this. You WILL be addicted and will GAS on replacing your pups in all your guitars. But even worse, you'll start dreaming about building or buying more guitars just to put the other BKs you want to have...

That's  serious.
