ESP horizon suggestion for brightness ?

Hello from Greece ,

I have an ESP horizon nt no tremolo guitar and a Marshall jvm . The guitar is dark sounding and I am seeking a pickup for brighter sound . I don't need a high output pickup cause jvm has plenty of it . A moderate output pickup will be better . So any suggestion to solve the problem of darkness ?  :shock: a more open , brighter , precence sound is required .

Riff Raffs are the most open of them, but none of them really are compressed by any means. I would perhaps mostly discount the CS but even that just rules in a guitar like yours.

That's what I mean. They all do a great job, but are different in output, character and voicing.
It helps when we know what kind of amp(s) you play.

The point is a pickup that has a big low end and a bright and clear high end ... Both amps has lots of mids ...

I'd be tempted by either the Emerald or for a more modern tone, the Cold Sweat.

In that case I would look at a Miracle Man too. It's not as hot as a Nailbomb and it has a scooped voicing with big lows and clear topend. Cold Sweats will work too. If you want to go the vintagehotroute I would say Emeralds.

VHII. The Bridge pickup is exactly what you describe - big low end and a bright clear high end. The neck pickup is rather warm but also has a biting edge to it.
I must add that I personally did not like the VHII Bridge in the guitar I tried it in because it lacked mids but it could work for you.

VHII. The Bridge pickup is exactly what you describe - big low end and a bright clear high end. The neck pickup is rather warm but also has a biting edge to it.

my thoughts exactly
the VHII is pure Jon Schaffer dry and beautiful crunch
not as bright as the riff raff, but has a quite bright top and a very punchy low end with lots of picking attack
it's not a middy pickup indeed, but in my experience, it delivers really nice crunchy mids in les pauls and sgs
