Used my Regius 7 for this. Its an Aftermath calibrated set, most of this is with the bridge pickup.

Hey thanks! Yup, its my material, just thought I'd share it over here and see if people dig it :)  I absolutely LOVED the Aftermaths I put in my old Schecter C7 (brought that guitar back to life), that when I got my Regius I got it with another calibrated set of Aftermaths. Nice avatar BTW!

Thanks for the listens! Mine ran me around $3k, but it was worth EVERY penny! It plays like a dream, sounds fantastic for both clean and heavy stuff, and is very very stable. I don't do any gigs, just write and produce for my own stuff and other bands, so that guitar doesn't leave my house :)  I actually purchased it sight unseen too, which was definitely a scary experience but it payed off big time. When I got mine I couldn't find anyone even remotely near me that had the same guitar so I had no choice. Its the body shape of the Regius... it was seriously haunting my dreams haha.

I'm not a fan of the whole "djent" genre, but you sir wrote a great song there. Really like it and judging from your Screenname and my first thought do I hear a little bit of Tool in there? ;)

Keep rocking, cheers!

Thank you! For me the word djent is strange. I grew up listening to a lot of 'single note style' playing from thrash bands and death metal, so djent to me seems like a very confused word. Some people say its about palm muted chords, polyrhythms, etc.... but to me it has always been Meshuggah's single note style that has really defined it, along with the whole rhythm over the bar thing and the meditative qualities of their sound. But my father brought me up on Yes, King Crimson and other prog rock classics, so unique rhythms have always been something I was attracted to. Probably doesnt hurt that I started out as a drummer too. Anyway, yes, TOOL is a huge influence on me in general, along with other art metal like Meshuggah, DTP, Gojira. My buddy from my old band is actually house sitting for Maynard out in Cali right now, lucky bar-steward :)

I think you summed it up quite well: most guys that play "djent" say it isn't a genre, just a special form of modern progressive metal (god that sounds cheesy)  :P

Too bad there are always too many young fellas that hop on the bandwagon and ruin a genre  :?

Dammed! House sitting for Maynard? Lucky bar-steward indeed!  :o

Haha, bar-steward autocorrected to bar-steward, which is actually pretty a appropriate mistake :)

Haha awesome! Thanks man! I've got some new stuff I am working on now... three songs are done being written and just need to be retracked and mixed. Not sure if I am going to do an EP for the next one or another full length :)

Great stuff! Just downloaded you're album.

How's the Regius? I've been thinking of getting I high end guitar soon-ish and Mayones are a strong contender, but I won't really get a chance to try one out (except a Setius I really liked last year) until Musikmesse.

Thanks! REALLY hope you enjoy it! The Regius is seriously amazing man. I had to buy mine never having played one before. I live on the east coast of the US and NO ONE seems to have one anywhere near me, at least not when I got mine about a year ago. Its the best guitar I've played... probably ever. The build quality is phenomenal and the sound suits my style nicely I think :) With the Aftermath calibrated set I can go from a slightly midrangy, somewhat nasally tone that sits beautifully in a mix on my bridge pickup for rhythm playing, to a more balanced, open tone with the neck pickup that still sits well in a mix but has a character that matches nicely with the bridge pickup. One thing I hate in some guitars are drastically mismatched bridge and neck pickups that sound really dissimilar. I know it gives you a wider range of tones from the guitar, but it generally sounds odd to me and disjointed. With the calibrated set in this guitar I can go from warm, fat, and open to tight, rhythmic and cutting with just the pickup selector. I dot know how it compares to the Setius but from what I hear Mayones doesnt have a "bad" guitar in their lineup :) I am personally in LOVE with mine and the pickup combo I have!
