just picked this up on eBay. It's actually less inc. p and p than I paid for each of my G12M 'Greenback' reissues  :D

Even if it's reconed (which it doesn't appear to be), I guess it should still sound better than the G12M RI's. IIRC these G12M's sound the same as original Rola greenbacks, just with a different coloured magnet.

I've got an early 70's Marshall 4x12 loaded with these.  It sounds fantastic.  Very smooth.  Best cab I've used.  Much better than the later 75w Celestion cabs.

If it's in good working order thats a bargain.  The problem with speakers I've bought on ebay has been that the sellers don't know how to test for voice coil rubbing and are a bit economical with the truth.  I've had quitea few vintage Celestions off ebay that were recone cases.  Now I only bid if I can test the speakers out first (i.e. go to the seller's house).

I'm optimistic as the sellers been really helpful and informative, and he's researched speakers and gone through lots of tests that Celestion provided to check the conditions of speakers. He had sold a pre-rola G12M that needed a re-coil and was very honest in the auction about it's condition.

Either way, I'll find out when it arrives tommorrow!
