I a strat I would pick the Crawler for that. It does those thick, creamy leadtones well.

Your clip sounds like a cross between a Holydiver and Crawler to me. The rhythm seems to be thick but with plenty cut and tightness so this is the Holydiver while the leads are more like a Crawler, being fat and rich.

I still think Crawler is what you want in a Strat.

That's EXACTLY the problem I'm trying to solve here: I want that thick, cutting rhythm but still fat, rich and creamy solo sound. Maybe I  just can't get both sounds in one pickup?

A friend of mine also has Abraxas in his Les Paul and I really like his sound and they sound very versatile pickups too. I'm still wondering how would they work in my hard-tail alder strat? Are they too bright just like the Mules I currently have? I love the output of Abraxas, because they're not too hot for my needs. This is a VERY hard decision this time! Maybe I buy them all.... :)

The rhythm-sound from the Crawler isn't a problem in an alder strat. It has enough uppermids and highs (if you set the height right), and would certainly match your amp. You could also turn the vol.knob on the guitar a tad back to get into that rhythm-mode.

The Abraxas, I believe, can be a bit like the Crawler but a step back so it's just not quite as fat or hot and has a bit more air to the tone. That would work too but I stand by the Crawler.
