Engravings

i think its cool that BKP does the engravings on their pickups as an option. but am i the only one that thinks that they should have an option of it just saying "bare knuckle" and dropping the word pickup from it? or even a picture of the boxer or something like it?

Each to his own, but I'm not very fond of engravings and certainly not a whole sentence like Bare Knuckle Pickups, though I dig the Tyger- and Black Battle Worn-covers. A bit off topic: I think they would please a lot of players if they label the pickupname on the bottom of the pickups.

totally agree, that would be truly immense.
Or even put BKP instead the full name (kind of EMG style ), but add them up as other option keeping old Bare Knuckle Pickups as well.

I'm not really bothered what the engraving actually says, it just doesn't really appeal to me at all to be honest.

But some people like it, so it's nice to have as an option.

i dont know. i just feel like the word "pickups" on a pickup is redundant.

I have it on my latest one, just so that I can tell it apart from the Nailbomb it replaced.

Also, I don't know if it was somehow removed during the engraving process, but the front corner of the pickup closest to my pick (i.e., the top left when you read the etch) is worn down to the nickel along the edge.  It doesn't bother me, but I can feel it. I guess it will give it a more 'vintage' and 'road worn' look as the nickel gets old, so that it looks like I wore it off with my ten hours of practice per day  :)

Please please - a million times!
It's a big mistake in my opinion that they have neglected this
It's assuming a lot that players will remember what they have in each guitar and it leads to confusion later
I tend to write model names on a sticker to any I fit as I have come unstuck myself here too.

I'd love it too if they had a model designation on them.  I have so many pickups now that I have a ton where I've forgotten what they are.  It doesn't help that I have some custom and prototypes too (though the original Pig-90 is easy to spot!).  Last time I was at Tim's he pointed out that my Painkiller was a neck pickup and I'd been thinking it was a bridge all the time!
So many pickups, so little time

Putting a label on them is common sense so I'm amazed that they've neglected to do this so far. As for the engraving, it's just not something that appeals to me, Mostly this is because I just don't like the look (simply 'Bare Knuckle' or 'BKP' would be better) but it's also because I object to paying £10 to advertise their product for them. I endlessly recommend BKP because I love them and believe in the product but that's my choice and I'm not paying £10 for it. I also feel that if I were to pay £10 for 'custom etches' I should be allowed to say what I want to be engraved on the pickup. It's hardly 'custom' if my only choice is to advertise the company. Why couldn't I( have the name of the pickup on there or my own name or the name of my band or the name of my guitar etc.?

I would like the pickup name on it somewhere as well.  But if I had a bunch I would definitely label them on the back at least

Yeah, it's irritating. We get so many requests here on the forum to help identify used BKP's. The only advice possible: measure the dc-resistance. Well, not everybody has the tools for that. All that hassle is totally unnecessary if BKP would label them.

that's something that jumped right out at me.

I just make a little p-touch label with the model name.
