The first one's the Rebel Yell...  more highs and high mids and crystal clear definition.  The Holy Diver has less highs and more low mids.

I think I like the RY better for the song, but your tone from both is very good.
Real men turn their volume to 11!

yes.  the #1 is the RY in the mahogany Hamer Centaura.
and the #2 is the HD in the alder ESP M-II Deluxe.

someone somewhere else asked about the VHII, so I did this using only the VHII for the dirty tones.  it's in a basswood Charvel Predator.  same amp/tone

the amp for the dirty tone is an ADA MP-1 with a 31 ch EQ and a digital reverb in the fx loop.  going out to a BBE and then into the Line 6 UX-1 interface, using POD Farm for 4X12 Brit-75 cab with an off-axis SM57 and into the DAW.

Totally understood, but I'll just say I really love the sound of my Les Paul ever since I put them in 7 years ago.  Amazing mids and crystal clear highs -- I tried a good chunk of the Dimarzio, Gibson and Seymour Duncan lineup prior to the Rebel Yells, and I can't say I found any other pickup with that kind of clarity at any higher output than a PAF (and even then it's debatable).  They really do sound as huge as Steve Stevens demo, and I'm not the player Steve is by any means...

thanks.  I've been working on tone options for digital recording for a few months.  I like a lot of what the Pod Farm software brings to the table, but I've been too upfront when posting clips for some audiences and they see the amp modeling before listening and it never goes over well.  what you're hearing there is part of the result of that, where I've been trying the ADA MP-1 into the Line 6 interface and just using Pod Farm for the cab simulation.  I appreciate your feedback.

and I think I'm moving closer and closer to trying the RY in alder or poplar, just for grins.
