Mahogany Telecaster
« on: October 19, 2013, 12:51:37 PM »
So I am getting made a telecaster with a mahogany body, ebony fingerboard, maple neck. I am putting humbuckers in it and I wanted recommendations. I have a set of miracle mans in my jackson rr3 but I want something different. I like a really heavy grungy sound but very clear. I play from Eric Clapton to Lamb Of God but In my band it's usually like a heavier tighter tone. Help?
Thanks

I guess you want a contemporary pickup then? What's your amp? So far, I'm thinking Nailbombs, but you can't pull Clapton out of those. You could also think about a Crawler, that has a vintage vibe to it, but this one is less tight than the NB.

Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

Yeah so I use a carvin V3 100w combo. I want a really tight hi gain sound, the other thing that matters a lot is the articulation of the notes. I found the miracle man isnt so good in that area. The nailbomb is sounding good to me
