Gary has been known to go in Mrs 38th's shop. He is quite a grumpy dude it seems to me. He was asked for an autograph once when he was in and  moodily obliged.

He never liked the "feel" of the guitar much. Peter didn't either. Apparently it has a neck like a baseball bat but the tone....that is a different matter.

I'd wager he's had a clone of the original made for live use, few old Les Pauls are toured today, mainly down to risk, insurance (or lack of). Plus there's a fair trade in people cloning old Pauls.....

A few years ago in an interview in Guitarist I think Gary said that the neck was damaged in a car accident, his car was hit by a truck with a guitar in the boot!!

It's in Guitarist this month - he HAS sold it.  Yes, it was damaged in a car crash previously too.  Snapped the headstock off.

I reckon it's knackered, Gary Moore isn't as popular as he once was, and he's cashing in while he can.

Propbably didn't play as it used to do either - anybody remember the picks of Claptons Blackie....bad case of E strings well clear of teh fretboard edge!

Part of me thinks that the collectors are welcome to a lot of these old guitars, there are plenty of people making excellent copies better than Gibson did then or now and at less cost. Martin Barre sold two 50s  Les Pauls and bought a Bentley.....
