BKP NBs in PRS Custom 24 thru Orange RV50

Hello all, first post here in the BKP forum.  I've been playing my PRS Custom 24 (American Made) through my Orange Rockerverb 50 for years.  It's equipped with the HFS bridge and Vintage Bass neck pups.  I get lot of compliments on both my clean and high-gain tones.  Lately, I've been yearning for something more, something new.

I play in a coverband.  We play all genres.  All styles.  From Mumford and Sons to Avenged Sevenfold.

Looking for a little more gain and pick attack.  A bit tighter, faster bass response.  A bigger pinch harmonic "squeal."  And I want to cut through the mix a little better, especially for leads.  The PRS/Orange combo is a bit on the dark side.

I was considering the Warpigs, but the gentleman from AxePlace advised that they may be too "dark" for my rig.  He suggested the Nailbombs.

Anyone rocking a similar rig to mine?  Any thoughts on the Nailbombs with  this setup?  Will the Nailbombs handle sweep-picking well?  Do they "squeal" well with pinch harmonics?  Should I look at the ceramic bridge, or the Alnico?  I was thinking ceramic.

Never replaced pickups before.  It's so hard to know what you like without trying them all side by side.  I'd go broke trying.

It's funny you should say that because im a massive fan of the nailbomb pickups and I have a rockerverb 100 and the nailbombs are my favourite by far.  I have the alnico nailbomb in 2 guitars and the only fault I can pick with it is that pinch hamonics arent 'easy' so if this is a big part of your playing id suggest some thing else.

If this is a side of your playing youre really good at though you might be ok I always had to work at the dimebag/zakk wylde style pinch harmonics and never really got there and never will but I found that with say the black hawk it was really easy.

I'm sure other people will chime on but I personally would recommend vhii's. Theyre versatile, awesome for solos and in my experience they do thrash stuff well and ive heard others play thrash stuff with them too.

Thanks for your input.  Do you have your gained turned up on the Orange?  I keep my gain knob at about 3 o'clock.  Pretty high.

Makes the pinches easier.

That HFS is not really a tight pickup in the lows but it has high output. The ceramic Nailbomb would certainly give you a tighter bass response and more attack to the tone - so would the Cold Sweat and the Rebel Yell. If more output than the HFS is a given then C-Bomb is it. The Alnico Nailbomb (A-Bomb) would also work well.

I personally never liked the Vintage Bass much - too much bass response IMHO. A good BKP alternative would be the VHII neck - that's what I use in my Custom 24 (together with a Crawler bridge but I don't play metal).
The Cold Sweat neck is a favorite here, too.

Thanks, my neck pickup is my go-to for cleans.  How does the CS handle cleans?

Would it respond well to an Ibanez Tube Screamer TS9 for a bit a country twang?

+1 I have a  Miracleman bridge and CS neck in my custom 22 and it the combination is brilliant. pretty versatile especially with the coil splits.
