Neck pickup sound "flat"
« on: November 03, 2013, 06:00:14 PM »
Hi guys. Just installed my new mothers milk single coil set. The bridge and middle pickup sounds awesome, but the neck pickup sound really flat compared. Sounds actually like the bridge is the neck and the neck is the bridge. I actually doublechecked to make sure I didn't put them in the wrong place. I didn't. Any ideas to what might cause this issue?

Hi and welcome!

If you already checked that, check first if the wiring is ok. Tap on the pole pieces with a screwdriver to see if the correct ones are on in the respective positions. After that double check if donīt have bad connections.
BKPs in use: 10th set / RY set / Holy Diver b, Emerald n / Crawler bridge, Slowhand mid MQ neck/ Manhattan n
On the sidelines: Stockholm b / Suppermassive n, Mule n, AM set, IT mid

Maybe you miswired them. Do you have a digital multimeter? If so, plug a guitar cord into the guitar, put the red lead of the meter to the tip and the black one to the ring. Then set the pickup selector to bridge and measure. Then set it to middle, then to neck. If you get the highest reading when set to neck, swap the neck and bridge wires and your problem should be solved.

Good luck
