Bridge pickup for an Ibanez RGA121?
« on: November 08, 2013, 12:36:16 AM »
Hi

I want to try something new in my Ibanez RGA121h and heard a lot of good things about BKP, so I want to give them a try. I'm a bit confused about what would give me the sound I want.
At the moment I have a Seymour Duncan JB in it and somewhat like that tone, but would like something fuller and more articulate. I only use the bridge pickup for distorted/overdriven sounds, never detune and like the tones on albums like Megadeth - Rust in piece and Countdown to extinction. Out of the soundclips I like the Holydiver clips the best, but seem like it's best suited for bright guitars?
The guitar is mahogany body, maple neck and the bridge pickup is located quite forward from the bridge compared to my other guitars and it's darker and warmer sounding than my basswood RG560.

Which pickups would be the best choice for what I want?

the holy diver sounds great for megadeth
if you want an edgier and more aggressive sound, the painkiller might please you
Riff Raff, Mules, Black Dog, VHII's, Cold Sweat

Great riffing - but with which pickup - I guess it's the Holydiver, right?

Cheers Stephan
