Eastwood Sidejack Bass VI P90 upgrade
« on: November 15, 2013, 10:32:46 PM »
Hey all, first time here in the forums.

I have been playing an Eastwood Sidejack Bass VI for a while now, and although I am generally happy, I find the pickups to be a bit flat-sounding, although the instrument is pretty good otherwise.

I currently use it through a crossover routing it to a bass and a guitar amp, with a few stomps on the guitar side.
I have been thinking of upgrading the stock P90 pups, and maybe also cloning the Ricky setup on the guitar itself instead of using a crossover. That is, put out a stereo signal that contains each pickup on one channel, and use the neck for the bass and the bridge for the guitar amp.

The playing style incorporates various stuff from noisy BRMC-style rock to clean, surf-like tones.

I was just wondering if anyone here can recommend pups for the occasion.  Ideas / experience with such a setup also welcome!

cheers,
AC
