Rebel Yell sounds awesome in a Les Paul, particularly with a more modern sounding high gain head.
Every Les Paul is different but I think with the current production "Traditionals" (or are they back to Standards now?) i.e. the weight relieved guitars there can be a problem with the bridge sounding thin and the neck sounding boomy or muddy. This is not so much the case with Marshall style amplifiers but moreso with amps like boogies that have an extended low frequency spectrum.
I've found that the calibrated Rebel Yell set tends to be a bit much on the bass for the neck pickup and a bit thin for the bridge at the same time. BUT, I think an Emerald neck and a Rebel Yell bridge should balance fine. I actually may have to try this solution myself. The other thing I'm thinking about is an Emerald Bridge and a Nailbomb Neck. I like a thick and phat bridge pickup drive tone and I like a more dynamic neck that cleans up well.
Rebel Yell is perfect for a Dual Rectifier or this sort of an amp but a more vintage / midrange focused amp can start sounding honky pretty quickly.
