POD HD help.

So Ive been using the POD HD bean,
and I'm getting some good stuff out of it, but everything I try sounds very djenty/metally. It sounds great, but I play more than just metal of that magnitude. If I try to make it more thick low tuned hard rock(with less ultra precision, sterility, and grind, and more just beef) , it loses a lot of life and gets thin/trebly.
Now I know that i should get tube amps or an Axe FX II, but as a college student in the dorms, I'm very limited budget and space wise haha.

as far as my tones are concerned, I keep it very basic. I use both the ENGL model and the Mesa model. I keep the gain relatively low, the bass between 25-50%, the mids around 50%, maybe a little lower, and the treble and presence relatively high.
aside from that, I use a noise gate and a compressor, and maybe a tube screamer with the gain all the way down.

the guitars I use are a schecter hotrod 39, basswood body with dimarzio breeds in drop c,
and a schecter hell raiser c-8, mahogany body with emg 808 (they're getting changed soon to ceramic nail bomb, but not too soon :/ .) its played in drop F, Drop A#, and C standard.

does anyone have any tips to help my sound get closer to that? I know it won't be spot on, but it's all good.

Sorry for the late answer.
It is true that it is quite hard to obtain the exact sound you want from POD HDs. Usually, I start from a yet built tone, then modify it. Line6 let you access to a huge bank of tones made by costumers. You can find them here: http://line6.com/customtone/

All I heard in what you provided may be obtained with the POD. (For the first one for example, start from some djent sound you may find on the website.)
However, your guitar and its settings are also very important when trying to configure the POD. I do not know the EMG808 and the guitars, but I think you shall be able to do everything your looking for. Just: use the volume and tone knobs! For sounds like in the second clip, with my EMGs, I need to put the volume knob half the way. (Then you can get really similar tones: the POD make those one quite fine.)

Last point: do you use an amp after the POD? Or just speakers or headsets? If there is an amp, you shall also take it into account (and most probably avoid using amp simulations in the POD).
