What pickup is next on your list?
« on: December 16, 2013, 08:38:58 PM »
just curious what everyone is looking into. i just emailed the bk team about maybe doing a juggernaut with a bit more output. seems like it has around the same output as the nailbomb i tried and i typically like a bit more since i'm used to gibson dirty fingers and seymour duncan invaders. i dont need something as high as the pig's or miracle man but i'd like a bit more than 13 for an output. maybe i'm overthinking it. who knows.

so what about you guys?

also, i was VERY close to buying a used miracle man on ebay but i just couldnt think of what guitar i'd put it in. with 3 alder strats, a 335 and an LP i figured the only logical choice would be the LP. but i decided against it

For me the two main things on my list are for one a set of HD bridge and Emerald neck for my 7 string, which currently still has Liquifire/Crunchlab in it. Liked them for a long time, but the more BKPs you get the more you see the downfalls of other PUs and get picky. Now I have been somewhat curious about both those PUs for a long time, but always thought I would just go Nailbomb Coldsweat as a more direct replacement, but for one my taste in PUs has gotten a tad more old school and well Slarti just got me. Knowing that we have very similar tastes his love of this combo just sold me. Only a matter of time now.

Secondly I am looking to sell my guitar which currently has Crawlers and a Slowhand in it, as I do not like to play it although it sounds amazing. The neck is the main culprit.
If I would manage to sell it with the PUs in it (not that I donīt want them anymore, but I would place them in a strat and itīs hard to find a HH strat I like) I would get PRS Korina singlecut and place Bluenotes (HB size) in there. My love for P90s just grows and grows and the Bluenotes just looks soooo tasty for a all sorts of stuff. Nicely vintage and mellow. In the PRS they would fill up a flavour I do not currently have but very much seek. Something full and sweet for blues and rock down to some atmospheric stuff.
BKPs in use: 10th set / RY set / Holy Diver b, Emerald n / Crawler bridge, Slowhand mid MQ neck/ Manhattan n
On the sidelines: Stockholm b / Suppermassive n, Mule n, AM set, IT mid

I have a Stormy Monday bridge pickup sat here waiting to go in the neck of my Flying V, so I guess that's the next on my list.

Apart from that I've pretty much got everything in the current BKP range that holds any appeal for me apart from some PG Blues or Emeralds, but for those to work I'd need to buy another LP and that won't happen anytime soon
Selling lots of gear, enquire within!......

I'd like to try a couple of the P-90 models - Nantucket bridge for sure, maybe the Blue Note neck.

And I really ought to have a set of Mules.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

There's definitely a reason why the mule is so popular

Well it's only 1 week until I get back to the UK and will finally have the chance to install my set of 10th Anniversaries, so am  quite excited about that.  Other than that I am planning on trying out the Juggernaut some time in the next few months.

As discussed in my ES-333 thread and recommended by Telerocker, I have an Abraxas being ordered (just discussing a custom cover yet), so that's next.

I'm also considering a set of slowhands, with all 3 baseplated and try to ask BKP to slightly overwind the middle to 6,8K and slightly underwind the bridge to 7,0K. Not sure they do this kind of requests though, but since I often hear about an overwound this-or-that, it's worth the try.

I would need another guitar.  Rebel Yell has long been on my wish-list.  I also really liked that Blue Note (neck) & Nantucket (bridge) combo for another SG and the Sinner set for a Strat, as well as the Piledriver set for a Telecaster.  I don't know if I'll ever get around to owning a Fender though.

I'm not a metal guy so I wouldn't want anything hotter than my RYs. The Abraxas interests me as does the Black Dog but I'd really like a set of Mules - but I'd have to get an LP or another SG to put them in.

Well if you go HSP90 you get a certain choice. My Supermassive Stockholm set (the "uber Swedes" as I now call them) are black battleworn and I would not be suprised if BKP is able to do most of, if not all the range of covers for those two.
With normal P90s it unfortunentally is different, as those are not even metal covers if I am not heavily mistaking.

But with how nice they are you should be able to get the entire range in HS size if you ask nicely, they are that nice. So if fancy really strikes...
