I only just recieved my Black Hawk and Piledriver sets, haven't had time to have them installed yet, but next on my list is definitely a Mother's Milk set for the Fender 60's Roadworn Strat that I'm gonna buy as my next guitar, even though it's a bit far out in the future... To me, that pickup set just nails the John Frusciante Strat sound of Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Blood Sugar Sex Magic" album, which I love to death.

If I'm not buying the Strat as my next axe, I'm going with an Ibanez RGD2127FX and I'll probably be putting an Alnico Nailbomb in the bridge and a Cold Sweat in the neck. But that's just off the top of my head. Both purchases are pretty far off in the future, since I only just bought a Tele 3 months ago. Strat and/or a seven-string... I'm trying to remain versatile.

well, i really figured my next was going to be a juggernaut but i actually purchased a cheap fender standard tele so i ordered a piledriver to put in it. very excited to try her out. i had a tele very recently but it was an HH tele and i wanted to try a traditional one.

yeah, i'll definitely be posting one. its mainly going to be my work horse for the new band i'm in since i'm too stubborn to use one of my nicer guitars haha. plus i think it will be a nice contrast to my other guitarist's sound.

After Cleggy fitted a set into my old Lion when he bought it, I have to admit that I'm really fancying a EMG Het Set. Stunning pickups and way, way more versatile than the name might suggest.

On the BKP side, probably a MQ for the neck position of the TV Master.

i understand your interest in those emg's. when i heard the EMG 57s in a demo i really thought they sounded awesome. although i'm a little bored with the same old 81/85

I keep thinking about a Blackhawk set.  Tim had them on a Les Paul when he was developing them and they sounded great (though to be fair, any pickups that Tim plays through sound great!).  The other set that really interests me is the set Tim made for Mick Taylor's R9 Les Paul, which featured in Guitarist a couple of issues ago.

Fighting with my @#(*&$ Les Paul again.  Just thinking about how to get a more balanced bridge to neck switch when the guitar, by default, is a ball of mud in the neck and thin and tinny in the bridge.  It was particularly terrible with the stock pickups but at the time, I didn't know how to shop properly for an instrument.  The neck is fast and feels great to play; at least I got that part right.  My difficulty is that my playing style keeps on changing so I have to keep changing my equipment to keep up with that end of things.

I am still on my PUP journey of discovery and the more i play the guitars and BKPs i have I am finding the LESS i like my nailbomb bridge , too fizzy, but MORE i LOVE my Crawler neck.
The crawler in mt rg550 20th sounds really slash LP like and for me that IS a keeper so another crawler for the bridge buuuut what to do with the nailbomb???

also for my maple board I am considering crystal cleans which i am waffling about in another thread

Still want some Evos in my 550ltd :)

HA!

Perhaps I should just accept that the guitar is the problem.

What sort of guitar are you using a nailbomb in?

The JH set is truly fantastic. Another set is on the horizon for me aswell as a few others. I'm really diggin A8 pickups currently.

Recently I was looking for semi hollow, looked at Epiphones, Gretch, Ibanez... but at the end I've bought Schecter Corsair in satin finish  8)

Guitar rings well acoustically, but "Duncan Designed HB101" sounds way to modern rock and gritty, just ordered Stormy Monday set for vintage clean jazz/blues stuff  8)

Phase one complete

Should be sticking those in tomorrow hopefully, I just need some strings to turn up. Though I've gone for the 57/66 set that I've snagged from a BKPer, so at least some BKPs have ended up in something ;) Essentially they're supposed to be lower output and more 'vintagey' than the JH set. It'll be interesting to compare and contrast.

I've also managed to snag a bucker-sized P90 to try in the Baja in place of the Mule that's in there at the moment. No real reason for that swap other than I really like P90 neck pups and no longer have anything with one in and the TVMaster is staying an Esquire for now.

If all goes well there'll be a few BKPs for sale shortly. Cleggy has already got dibs on the Cold Sweat neck though. Still got a MM reverse zebra bridge and an unpotted raw nickel neck Mule that might be up for grabs... We shall see.
