Rare Ampeg Dan Armstrong Guitar - Clear!!!
« on: January 04, 2014, 08:15:01 AM »
Hi, I looked for some rare guitars and discovered a new cool site for used musical instruments.
I found an awesome guitar called "Ampeg Dan Armstrong":

Is it good to have a plexi body? How does it sound?

They weigh a ton but have a very unique sound.  They have a lot of attack on the tone and sustain pretty well.  The pickup is interchnageable (I have 4 different ones for the one I have, some real DA's, some potted DiMarzios).   Originally there were single coil and humbucker pickups with different output levels.  This is a reissue, where they addressed the problem with the original bridge (not very adjustable as it is a rosewood block) and did change the electrics slightly, but it will probably sound similar to my original.
So many pickups, so little time

Welcome to the forum
Interesting/odd first choice to post
Looking at your joining time for the forum, you seem to have joined our happy little forum simply to post up about this guitar, so may we assume that you are actually the owner of this guitar trying to drum up interest in it rather than someone seeking opinions on the merits of such a guitar?

Or am I just being cynical?

Happy New Year all the same

 ^

Glad it wasn't just me, Jonathan... I felt similarly cynical when I read it yesterday! But seeing as I'm not posting much at the moment, just lurking from time to time, I wasn't convinced that my judgement was entirely sound!

But indeed, Happy New Year :D

Cynical or not, I'd be keen to try and perhaps own such a guitar one day  8)

Well I'm not gonna buy it for sure. Not very pretty and weighs as much as a cow.

I thought exactly the same, Jon. I'm sure he's shilling his website. I didn't click it.

Apologies if I'm wrong new guy but we're a local forum for local people
