Bare Knuckle Black Dog Vs Wcr Icebucker (Jon Schaffer`s singnature Pickups)

Hey , I just made a comparison video cause I saw that this issue has been asked in the past...

Bare knuckle Black dog is the pup that Jon Schaffer from ICED EARTH used to use in the framing armageddon period when Tim mills  was in the band as a lead guitarist. Few years later Jon went to Jim Wagner who is a Handmade pickup maker and made his signature set of pickpus. The Icebuckers. So here I am testing those two pups. Make you choice and comment !!!!!

Black Dog is more open sounding even in the Youtube vid. The difference in the room would be even more dramatic.

Indeed the bk sounds more iced earth than the icebuckers ... Black dog is tighter and more aggressive ...

I should preface this by saying that I don't like Iced Earth and that out of the BKP range the Black Dog is one of the pickups I'm not fond of BUT the Black Dog has the edge on the Icebucker in this comparison.  The BD never sounds choked up and farty whereas the Icebucker does from time to time in this video

Still trying to like my Black Dog, but it's defo my least favorite BKP so far.
Funny think is though, it always sounds good in youtube.

Late and a bit mashed but flicking to the 9 minute spot the guitars were so horribly out of tune I couldn't listen to the differences in tone..........

Spot on. The Black Dog sounds better but doesn't stay in tune very well. :P

The BD is in a Tokai Les Paul Standard, but the absence of high mids paired with big low mids, doesn't balance very well with my brain.
