Pickup set for a LTD EC1000
« on: January 24, 2014, 07:24:32 AM »
Please recommend pickups into my LTD EC1000.

The guitar is made of mahogany with rosewood fingerboard equipped with EMG 81/60. The sound character of the guitar is dull.
I want to have both nice half-gain and hi-gain sound with round and fluid solos. So no djent, no slayer sound is needed but heavy rock or so to say hair metal with more modern sound.
I listened tons of sound samples and YouTube videos looking for the wished BKP sound.

Finally VHII, Black Dog or Rebel Yell bridge pickups remain in my list. I think the corresponding neck pickups would be also fine into the neck position.

...any other idea is welcome

Since our guitars should be pretty similar in tone and we have about the same taste in what we wanna play, you could check this thread for some info: https://bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=31310.0

Rebel Yell fits the bill. VHII would also work and don't rule out the Riff Raff.
BKP: Abraxas - Les Paul
Holy Diver - Charvel
Mule - Les Paul
Rebel Yell - Les Paul
VHII - PRS CU22
Emerald - Les Paul
Warpig - Caparison Horus

Send the question to BKP support,  I got this respond:
"As I was reading the post, I was thinking "...Rebel Yells....Rebel Yells...possibly Holydivers....no, Rebel Yells".

They are fantastic hard rock pickups but are versatile too. They'll do hot blues, GnR, Paul Gilbert, JP, progressive metal even. They're tight and clear."

Great!!

Could you please give an opinion about them once you have them installed? Since I'm also thinking about these in an Eclipse it would be very interesting...

Sure.
I wanted some feedback about the mentioned pickups and i was interested if any other ideas came into the picture.
It is hard to decide which pickup fit the best in my guitar reliying what just people are saying but asking oppinions is good for having an overall picture.
What I am sure is that the EMG have to replaced because i am not after for it's sound.
