yep exactly. And the LC15R sounds more tube than many other tube amps I tried at low levels. 15W or lower, not just 15 is good for me. Furthermore when I do get a band, not all my friends have portable amps and this model is very versatile and easy to carry around. It's just be great. But yeah, if you haven't tried it yet, everyone should. It sounds great even at bedroom level.

Anyone know what those Pignose amps like- they used to have a good rep though I have never used one myself. I just happened to spot one on the GAK site and was amazed to see them around as I thought they'd stopped making them years ago. Maybe Pierre if you see if anyone has one locally perhaps you could try one out.

The Pignose brand and design got bought out by some guy a while back. Apparently they sound good but are really unreliable. I was disappointed to hear that, because I'd always been interested in them after seeing them in Zappa's rig.

Lose the bed. Then you can have a couple of full stacks, some more gutiars, and it can't be that hard to sleep standing up.

If volume is a problem down grading to 15W isn't going to help all that much, there's not generally much difference between 15 and 30. Really you're going to need either something with an attenuator or an SS amp. Is £150 all you can spend? If so, you'd be damned lucky to get a decent tube amp. I think a mircrocube would be your best bet - only 2W and it'll fit on your desk.

That said, if pierre's right about the LC15 (the R is more expensive), then it's certainly worth looking at. They are pretty small, too.

I COULD Go for the LC15 and mod it myself for an effects loop if it's not too hard. One shop can buy my Laney for 100 pounds and I'd just have to pay 20 extra for the LC15. I'd just love the R version.
Hehehe nice about the bed  :D  Unfortunately I'm way too lazy for that ;)
Volume is a problem because the amp's master volume is way too sensitive where I have it now. I can't go past 1 when I play it without the POD. It reacts very quickly to any very small changes and it bothers me. With a smaller combo I may still have that but at least it'd be smaller AND I could carry it to any gigs I may have, whether I play or not.

Sorry I havent read the thread properly, I thought he was just saying his amp was too loud to get a good tone at bedroom levels.

I'd go for a MiniMat to be honest  :D However this wouldnt give you the compactness, as you'd have to have the head and cab..

sounds like it would fit your requirements but just without the tube part....

The Minimat's HUGE for a 2 watt amp (well, the head isn't, but the cab is).

I reckon a good option would be a second hand Tech 21 Trademark 10. No valves, but all analogue circuitry, very compact, goes down to very low levels and sounds pretty darned good.

Now it really pains me to say this, because it sounds so much like a "fob off your old kit on some poor sap" tactic, but I'm selling my old Trademark 10. I was going to E-bay it, but if you're interested ...

If I've broken any forum etiquette with my post above (selling stuff on a non-selling forum) feel free to bitch-slap me.
