Anyone going to Download?
« on: March 15, 2006, 06:05:14 PM »
I'm buying a ticket tomorrow. The lineup is amazing. http://www.downloadfestival.co.uk/lineup/index.asp

Most of my friends are off to Leeds/Reading instead. The same happens every year, but I'm sure I'll find someone to go with me :D.

Anyway, are any of you lot going? What do you think of the lineup?

Oh yeah, I'm also buying Iron Maiden/Trivium tickets. So that's Satch, Download and Maiden/Trivium this year so far. Cannee wait!

-Danny :)

You actually think Axl will turn up?!?!

Guns N' Roses died 10 years ago when Slash left.

Actually, there are a few gems on the lineup:

Tool
Arch Enemy
Ginger & The Sonic Circus
Prodigy
Within Temptation

Not enough for me to go though (all the bands I want to see seem to end up playing at the same times as each other on separate stages.  :()

I don't like the recent Arch Enemy music - much prefer the older stuff.

I'd like to go (if only for Tool) but I can't afford it at the moment.

I think it's lucky that so many bands I really like are playing. Alice in Chains (I bet Jerry Cantrell does vocals), All American Rejects, Alter Bridge, Arch Enemy, Bullet for my Valentine, Coheed and Cambria, Funeral for a Friend, God Forbid, Inme, Lacuna Coil, Prodigy, Sikth (yes!), StoneSour, Trvium, Within Temptation, Metallica, Guns N roses and Tool are all bands that I've seen before or would pay to go and see. And I like some songs from a lot of the others. So I think I'll be getting my moolah's worth. All that needs to happen now is for Killswitch Engage to be added to the bill and it will be almost perfect :D.

I was gonna go this year till I saw that lineup, sounds so cr@p to me! I dont think shelling out the £70 or whatever is really worth it just to go and see Metallica and Tool

I saw GnR at Leeds a couple of years ago. They were actually quite good - buckethead was ace!
They were really late going on stage and would have only had time to play about 2 songs before the curfew but Axl just said they were gonna play their whole set until they pulled the plug on them! Went on til after midnight!
It was a bit strange hearing all the old G'n'R songs played by session musicians though.
MM set, warpig set, about to be fitted - custom 7 bridge 'pig, CS7 neck.

I went to Leeds 2002. We had to leave at the start of GnR's set though 'cause the girl we took allegedly had period pains. I don't mean to sound insensitive, but I stood with her through all her cr@p fav bands (Incubus, The Offspring) when I could have seen other bands in some tents and stuff, and I only wanted to see GnR. So wasn't very happy. I've seen the video of Buckethead's solo though. Awesome! :D
