Weird pain in my chest
« on: March 15, 2006, 11:16:36 PM »
So, since last night, around 6 o clock ish, I've had this weird achey pain that seems like its in the middle of my chest, between the stomach and chest area really. I dont know what the hell it is, but it kinda hurts, and I just want it to go away! Any ideas? I think it could just be a LOT of trapped wind as it seems to be relieved a bit when I belch but it just comes back again

Cheers for any help.

Heart burn, most likely. Get well.

Yeah I agree. Peppermint is good for dealing with it according to Mrs 38th ( she owns a Health Food Store).

If it gets worse when you exert yourself get it checked.

hmm does heart burn last for this long though? Thats why I thought it wasnt, I thought it only lasts a short period of time.. I'll get some peppermints tomorrow then I guess, see if they work!

When you say if it gets worse when you exert yourself, if you mean, if it hurts more if I yawn or breathe in deeply then yes it does hurt more. I think you're on about excercising though.. I'll go out on my bike tomorrow and see!

Also, its not really a burning, more of an acheing.. I dunno, I'm probably worrying over nothing

If you don't want to go to hospital/doctor straight away, phone NHS Direct (0845 4647). It's 24 hours and they'll give you some proper medical advice.

Get well. :)

I once pulled a muscle in my chest and it felt like I had stabs of pain - not pleasant. Ring NHS direct if I were you.

Broken tummy?! What is this magic. Anyway I think it might just be trapped wind of some form because I'm burping loads and I dont normally haha.. If it doesnt go away within a few days then mum says I'm gonna have to go to the doctors.

I used to get that for some reason. The best way i found to get rid of it is to stretch your arms back and push out and breathe in deeply. If it still hurts though then i'd rest for a bit or go get checked. I doubt it will be anything serious though

Ok will do that, probably look a tit but if it works then it doesnt matter  :P Right now I'm just sitting here chewing Rennie Deflatine to see if that will do anything, its strangely tasty. I doubt I've pulled a muscle, I havent done anything to acheive a pulled muscle

more than likely.

rennies are pretty good for that. Anything that's alkaline will stop it, since it's acid rising up in your stomach, i think.

Note: by saying alkaline, i do not mean drink industrial strength sodium hydroxide drain cleaner.

EDIT: though if it's lasted a few days, it might not be heartburn.

yep, sounds like trapped wind.

grip water (for babies!) sometimes can cure trapped wind, if you want to try to get your hands on some of that.  tastes pretty nice too, lol (like sugary water).
