Amplitube (New Lotsastuff Day)

I've shied away from modeller pedals and the like, but because I've been building out a proper DAW, I've just bought this.

I can see many, many hours of my life disappearing...

It's pretty damn cool - I can see why people like it...  There's a certain sterility that comes through, but even after a fairly brief time playing with it I can already get a tone that's every bit as good as the recorded tone I get from my Egnater.  I'm not sure I could tell the difference.

Gonna have much fun.

Cool, I have it too, although I do not use it nearly enough. Really good software. Not the biggest fan of the premade patches, but you can do nice stuff youself very easily. Pretty convincing stuff!

It's quite funny (sat here, anyway) - I've been going on for years about how I use modelling (mainly Vox Tonelab) and don't really think most people could tell the difference on a recording... There's folks I was imagining would never touch modelling... and here I am rough mixing a thing with only mic'd valve amps on it!!... :roll:

I haven't turned on my Tonelab for months :lol:

Personally, I still feel it's "what ever gets the job done", so I'll use what ever seems easiest or most inspiring. But right at the moment I'm getting more of a kick out of my little Laney.

Last week I got compliments for my drive- and solosound. What they thought was the drivechannel of my amp, turned out to be my Brunetti Mercury Box 2-pedal into the clean channel.  :)

Get some redwirez cab impulses (Marshall 1960 is free on their site) and use them inside a DAW instead of Amplitubes own cab emulation, the tone is significantly better

I've dabbled with Amplitube some years ago and found it quite good, but it couldn't match the feel of my real amp. It might be able to fool ypu on a recording, but playing it is not like a real tube amp experience to me.

Yeah, I think that's why I'm recording amps at the moment. Amps and modellors definitely feel a little different while playing - I find it effects me especially on rhythm stuff, not so much lead. I can get used to both feels, and right at the moment it seems I'm more at home with an SM57 in front of the Laney. It does change very quickly according to the type of song I'm trying to do, though.

Definitely agree - the recorded tones are terrific, but it's not as visceral as a real amplifier.
