NAD. Cheap amp ahoy.

I found this baby in a local second hand shop. George Dennis - 'The Blue' 60 watt, all valve amp with 4 channels and came with the foot switch for £150.
She just sings :D Anyone else had any experience with these amps? It's the first one I've ever seen.

Made in Czechoslovakia, when I remember well. They were on the market a while here in Holland, but I don't think they have a distributor here anymore. The Blue with it's four channels, EL34's powertubes, reverb, effectsloop, Celestion-speaker was not a very cheap amp: 1200 euro new. So you got a whole lot of amp for little money. Congrats!

The name George Dennis sounds familiar, but I may be mixing it up with something else.  Do (or did) they sell other stuff - FX, accessories or whatever - under the same brand name?

I had a Geroge Dennis volume pedal.  Was the first thing I ever bought on ebay and paid well over the odds for it simply because I caught caught up in it all!

All in all pretty decent ended up selling it for peanuts though as I try to use as few pedals as possible.

I saw a review of that amp in Guitarist mag. Can't remember how long ago or anything about the review other than it was good. What's the sound like ? Marshally ? Are all the channels usable ? Tell us more. Looks like brand new.

Thanks for the info Telerocker, I wouldn't have put it as Czech!
The amp has a full sound. The clean has a Fender Tweed feel about it, a nice a full midrange . The 'lo input' gain sound kinda reminds me of a Marshall JMP. It has a nice openness to it without going 'full tilt', think Texas blues to Thin Lizzy. The 'hi input' gain however goes all out. The lead channel descends into hi gain filth, with endless sustain. It's a very usable amp, with the channel changers pretty much removing my need for a pedalboard. I'll try and get some sound clips up soon.
It was a lucky find. The previous owner just wanted rid of it. The reverb switch has been pushed into the amp (which should be an easy fix) so the guy put a low price on it to get it shifted.

I should have said Czech Republic, Prague in particular. Low labourcost didn't mean the amps were made with cheap components. They were actually well build.
