What. do you guys think about juggernaut set on a maple neck and board, basewood jem?

I will use this for std tuning but mainly I intend to use c# open. Lots of clean work with atmospheric delay to heavy distortion for rhythm work, I dont really intended to use this for lead Much

Juggernauts have a very modern voice and they excel at clean, rhythm, and lead.  You only need to determine if you like the overall voice of the pickup.  If you jive with it, they are phenomenal pickups.

Listening to misha's demo and the clips of Rick Graham playing in standard tuning are what has inspired me to go juggs.

I am still yet to learn to hear the defining points of what makes a 'modern voice' yet. But I know I liked what I heard.

I don't think there is a BKP that can make a tube amp sound like a modeller.  The particular voicing is more to do with the EQ / Timbre of the pickup.  If you are into Periphery's sort of tone, then Juggernauts will get you there.  The overall voice of the pickup is smooth in the highs with a low mid focus which gives it this quasi-scooped tone in spite of the huge amount of mids that the pickup produces.  If you listen to the audio clips on the BKP website and compare the Juggernaut, say, with the Nailbomb, you'll hear what I mean.

This pickup set is really exceptional and if you like what you hear, get them.  You won't regret it.  Unlike that good chap Toe-Knee, what I am saying is intended as a comment, not a criticism.

Everything i've heard no matter what they are played through sounds like a modeller. It's kind of like the axe fx tone in a pickup imho.

Well I was speaking regarding the general tones that people seem to pull through them. The only person i've ever heard get non djent like tones from one is Witeter on this board.

Ha!  Right, of course.  Hence ::modern tone::  I figured you meant modelling amps in general, not Axe FX specifically which is now what many guitarists are using.  I think these guys get that 'djent' sound regardless of what they play through and part of that is due to the EQ of the amps they use, the low tunings, and the way they play their guitars.  But for sure, the Juggernaut definitely has that tonal character about it.  It's sort of a love / hate thing, I gather. 

I managed to achieve a somewhat different tone with the juggs through a more vintage / british voiced amp but with a recto, it can't help but sound really modern.

In my band, I'm running a recto with a super strat loaded with Juggernauts and the other guitarist uses a Mark V with a Jackson Rhoads and a dimebucker in the bridge.  Needless to say, our tones are quite different but that works to our advantage because each guitar sits in it's own frequency band.

Rick Graham is an absolute monster player, both in terms of pure chops and vocabulary!  Of the Juggernaut clips I heard: Ola Englund sounded like Ola Englund, Ryan Bruce sounded like Ryan Bruce,  Misha Mansoor sounds like Misha Mansoor, Some dude who likes Dream Theaters sounded sort of like John Petrucci.  I sound like, well, me, and I'm not so sure that's a good thing...

A monster player indeed.  That track is a lovely sound to top it of.

If I end up sounding like me then I am a happy bunny.
My only apprehension is based off my experience with the rebel yell.
The eq of the Ry in my rg (lots of maple and basswood) meant that it got lost in the mix and really lacked a punch in the low end, but only in the mix. In its own context it was a beautiful sound, but I had to swap it for the Holy diver. The holy diver did the job, albeit still not enough bass to taste but it really hit the spot!

Hmmm.  Yes, I got a great result with a Rebel Yell but it's in a Mahogany guitar that has a massive amount of low mids.
 The Juggernaut does have lows but if you REALLY need phatness and power, I think a Warpig is a better option.  My experience with the Juggernaut is that it really pounds in the low mids but at the same time, it is phat instead of flubby.  The guitar I put the set into is bright but it doesn't lack lows.  Email BKP just to be safe and see what they say.
