NPD: Morley Little Alligator volume pedal
« on: August 30, 2014, 01:15:41 AM »
I just bought one of these second-hand (via Ebay) from a guy who lives a few towns over, and picked it up yesterday. I'll let you guys know what it's like.  I'm kind of excited about it as it is like a volume knob you can operate with your foot!

It's a Steve Vai signature unit, but I have to admit that didn't influence my purchase.

Oh nice. I have been eying that one before and volume pedals in general. Really interested to see how that turns out. A volume pedal, a reverb (decided on the Big Sky), and maybe a wah are the next three things to be added to my pedal board.
BKPs in use: 10th set / RY set / Holy Diver b, Emerald n / Crawler bridge, Slowhand mid MQ neck/ Manhattan n
On the sidelines: Stockholm b / Suppermassive n, Mule n, AM set, IT mid

So far I've found it to be very good.

You can set the low where you want it, from dead quiet up to full volume.  The pedal movement is good and quite intuitive.  I really like not having to click a switch.

It seems to act as a boost past a certain point.

What I found it to be good for was to set a rhythm tone as the minimum and then be able to push as much as you want for more aggressive parts or solos.  I'm thinking of using it just for the chorus riff in one of my songs.  It's much easier than using the volume knob on the guitar or the overdrive pedal on my board

I took it to band practice tonight, and used it on the chorus to one song and the intro to another, sort of like a boost.

Here's a photo of it in my box of shite, which happened to get broken tonight when some friends turned up and started a drunken mosh pit in our practice room.  Caos!
