P90 to go with Flat 50 bridge
« on: September 01, 2014, 02:03:05 PM »
I'm having a Haar tele built, the bridge pickup I'm sure off, but I would like to try a p90 in the neck.
What would go well with the Flat 50 bridge?

I'm not into twang, I like a fat snarly tele tone.

thanks

The Mississippi Queen might do it though it's the size of a regular humbucker if that presents routing issues. I have Bluenote in a Hamer that I really like and think has a fatness to the tone but whether it's aggressive enough for your needs I'm not sure.

A MQ might be a bit much with a Flat 50.  I'd think a Blue Note would be nice in the neck slot.

This might give you some idea of a Blue Note in a Tele

Nantucket or the humbuckersized Mississippi Queen. Tonewise they fit the Flat 50. I don't think you will engage too much disbalance in the output, although P90's always sound a little bigger than standard single coils. Big magnets, big tone!
