Ha - no need to apologise. Each to their own! It's not my cup of tea at all!
It's not mine either really, in many ways I hate it and everthing it represents.
But somehow I feel an irresistible need to watch it every year. I always think I'll watch the first few weeks of comedy auditions then give up, but I always end up waching the whole thing.
Once they get to the live shows, there's a grim fascination in watching the (very) rare birds with a bit of genuine talent having it mercilessly beaten out of them by the Cowell machine. After all those themed shows - Elton John week, Michael Jackson week, Rock (

) week, Swing (

) week - the poor kids have lost all sense of their own identity. All that's left is an album of ropey cover versions before being coldy dumped back on the scr@pheap.
