I just scored a deal on a Orange Jim Root Terror! I sounds very nice and the gain is very tight next to my or15. It almost sounds as if it has less overall gain. The clean tone is quite nice as well, except for not having a ton of headroom.

They're built on the same PCB, so it'll be interesting to note the differences between the JRT and the OR15 (I have the OR15).

I have both the or15 an jrt, they sound quite a bit different actually. The Or15 has a much more vintage voiced gain and is my go to for doom and oldschool metal. the Jim root has much tighter gain and has less of that fuzzy character, while maintaining that Orange voicing. The Jim root almost feels like it has less overall gain than the Or15, but it is probably because the gain is less hairy and more focused. The cleans are sweeter on the Or15, but are still very good on the Jim Root. The Jim Root's cleans just sound a bit , harder and less sweet (dont know how else to put it)

Congratulations. I've spent a fair bit of time with a Dual Terror this year - our rehearsal place has a deal with Orange. I love it with ONE reservation. The gain is lovely and SO touch responsive. It sounds GREAT at low levels which my Cornford Roadhouse doesn't - it likes to be cranked at least half way to deliver the goods. I'v never gigged with the Orange and my concern was that there didn't seem to be much top end available. It sounded to me like it would have trouble cutting through a mix. My Roadhouse is not overly bright but there's tons of top there if you want it. We are a one guitar band and I can imagine the Terror struggling in a two guitar set up. I notice that the Root amp has a three band EQ so maybe this isn't an issue.

Ohhhh nice. That is one I have had an eye on for quite a while now. I do own a british made Tiny Terror, which is brilliant, but this has a load of appeal to me.

My main question would be how the break up tones, so the blues tones, are in your mind. I know that Mr Root is a very much a blues player at heart, which often showed in Stone Sour and the amp was said to do that well too. I would guess with the cleans less sweet it would only do dirty blues well if any and really come into its own when you pile on the gain. Any info on those breaking tones would be really apprechiated.
I am so close to buying one of those as my next amp once I get some cash in my hands (gotta sell my 12string tap guitar)...

Anyhow congrats, I envy you!

It is not particularly sweet, but has its own character. The gain is usable through its entire sweep and never gets over saturated. The cruch tones are good, and i can get a convincing ufo tones out of it.

Nice. Im using Dual Terror which I gig.Here's an old clip with Les Paul when it was loaded with Mules.Sound quality not great.
