Nailbomb, Warpig or something else. HELP
« on: October 13, 2014, 10:23:39 PM »
I am giving my ibanez a make over. I am putting a new tremolo in with a titanium block. It has a basswood body with a bolt on maple neck and rosewood fretboard. I am looking for 2 humbuckers to throw in it. I am going to directly mount them with brass inserts under the pick up for added resonance and tone. I play lead, metal, virtuoso, clean, etc.

For the bridge I need something that growls and is clear.
For the neck I need something that is fluid and clear.

I was thinking of getting another Warpig and considered the Nailbomb as well.

PLEASE HELP.

Could you explain why you would recommend that combo?

Please explain your rationale/reason as to why you would recommend these choices?

C-Bomb grinds, is clear and tight. A little less midrange than the alnico version. Cold Sweat-neck is also clear and very fluid with a good amount of gain.

Basswood tends to be middy, so the scooped character of the MM should give it balance.  The MM also has a great reputation with maple necks. It also has the other characteristics you are looking for.

Cold Sweat will do what you want in terms of fluid etc.  Better cleans than the MM

-How is the high end or presence on the C-bomb?

-The miracle man scooped? I thought the high mids were only scooped and the low mids were really present? Can anyone clear this up for me? I do not need high mid emphasis, I need low mid emphasis

Quite some more topend than the alnico version.

Naturally yes, you're correct but every ceramic pickup is different..so strictly in regards to the C-bomb, how is the high end/presence? Is it really prominent or is it less? Is it shrill to the point where the amp can't fix?, etc.

I have to hear the first BKP that is shrill. Nevertheless the C-Bomb really cuts, whilst retaining the mids of the alnico version. The Miracle Man is a little smoother in the topend, when I remember correctly.

The miracle man it is then. I keep hearing how its made for bolt on maple necks and it loves basswood bodies and thats exactly what my ibanez has. Plus with my amp being naturally brighter and present as it is, I feel the C-bomb will put it over the top in terms of high end. Hopefully the MM will balance it out with the low mids and smoother top end. If it doesn't then possibly the Warpig again or perhaps the Juggernaut? Time will tell
