Short legged ok for gibson SG?
« on: October 14, 2014, 09:37:00 AM »
Hi guys,

Someone is selling a miracle man bridge pickup.
All looks good, but it's short legged and I have a gibson SG; I understand they require long legged, or does it not matter?

I currently have a pair in my les Paul classic and love them!

Can anyone confirm if it will fit?

Cheers!!

It might work but we generally recommend the long leg for an SG due to the angle of the neck cavity.

Long legs at the bridge, especially if you have the 'batwing' full face pickguard.

Either leg style is fine for the neck

Thanks guys!

I think it might be best to leave it then, as it's exactly the SG you're speaking of and, also, the person selling it isn't too sure either.  It's not been installed in any guitar as yet.

Thanks for all your help

Definitely avoid the short leg for an SG bridge.

Here's a photo of my SG.  Note how high the bridge pickup is set.

It'll be OK if you use short springs (or Fender style rubber tubing) to go with the short legs.  Full-length springs won't work.
