Guitar advice
« on: October 29, 2014, 03:12:37 PM »
My birthday is rapidly approaching and I've suggested to my wife that I'd quite like another guitar. No particular surprise there but this time I fancy an electro-acoustic to give me something a bit different. I know absolutely nothing at all about acoustic guitars so I'm in desperate need of advice. I know I want something with a single cutaway, I know I want a neck that doesn't feel any chunkier than what I have already (if possible) and I know I don't really want to spend over £200, though I am happy to look at pre-owned as well as new. Are there any particular models/makes I should be looking at? So far I am looking at these models:

Yamaha APX

Ovation Celebrity

Takamine G series

Freshman Renogade

Cort AD880

Cort SFX-DAO

Ibanez AW-series are decent. The Corts give a lot of bang for the bucks. LAG Tramontane? Neck is not thick at all.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

I have a Samick that is very nice. No pickup, but most of their models have them.  Grovers too.  Nice bright sound.

COBRA-T
WAR PIGS
STOCKHOLM
COLD SWEATS
MIRACLE MAN

I also recommend the ibanez.  Ive had one for a while.  It's not amazing but it's great for the price. It has pretty much everything you're looking for

At the moment I'm primarily looking at a Takamine G series with the NEX body but I'll look into Ibanez too.

I have an Ovation Legend and I love it!
Ovation is not for everyone but you should try one.

The neck is superb and it's an iconic acoustic sound.

I think an Ovation Celebrity is more in my price range

Celebrity is a nice one. Reminds me of a Godin.
