Another EMG replacement threat
« on: October 30, 2014, 03:24:43 PM »
Hello everyone,

I'm planning on buying a Ibanez RGIT20 but is has EMGs with it.
Personally I'm not a fan of EMG and although I might just try out that 18v mod, from what I heard off audio clips and videos.. still not really my cup of tea.
So I really feel that they have to go! But since it has a ash winged body with a maple/walnut neck-thru I'm not sure what to expect tonewise.
So here I am! :-)

I play metal, this guitar will be tuned to drop C, and I play through a Randall Diavlo RD100 and a Randall 412XL cab with V30 speakers
atm I use a ltd mh1000nt with dimarzio D Activator X set.
Clips can be found here: https://soundcloud.com/soulthief
Basically I want a nice pickup which matches great with that guitar, is agressive while keeps the clarity/definition when I play bigger chords and stuff.
When played clean, it's really sparklin clean!

Hope for some advice!
Thanks!

Probably wise to wait on it and find out what it sounds like naturally.

Looks like you will need to replace the pots to 500k also.

For sure I'm checking out how it sounds first but I wanna have done my research before I get the guitar and come to the conclusion that I really don't like the EMGs, then I already know what to get ;-)

Interesting! I heard good things about those! I also was looking at a warpig, any thoughts about that pickup?

I have the Warpig bridge in a Caparison. Nice thump of bottom end, but it's tight bass, higher output than what i am used to in other BKP

THIS IS ALL!

The juggerset replaced an EMG 85 / 81 set in the guitar I got.  It was a mind blowing difference, on many levels.
