Black Hawk neck on the bridge position?
« on: November 07, 2014, 04:30:17 PM »
Hi all!

Hope you guys can give me some help on this. I know the obvious answer would be "get an alnico v bridge!" but I have the chance to grab a Black Hawk neck that I intended to use on the bridge position. Given The approximate DC resistance, I was hoping it could work for both awesome cleans and all out extreme metal riffing when needed. Would I get even better cleans than The A5 BH bridge? Are some of its push and aggressiveness going to be missing?

Chime in, guys! Thanks!

Very vague on my part but I can tell you that I contacted BKP about the 'mysterious' black hawk neck and they told me it was completely different to the bridge so the bridge is intended for bridge use and the neck is intended for neck use.

I owned an alnico black hawk once and had mixed feelings.  What it did well i.e massive metal riffs and solos were perfect but I didnt find the bridge versatile.  I'd say it was the most aggressive pickup i've ever played.  I am close to buying another set again though and have been threatening to for a while just gotta decide on set of black hawks or one set from another brand....

Hi Jimmy,

Thanks for the info on the Black Hawk neck! Actually your review and post were one of the reasons I wanted a Black Hawk.

I will just keep an eye for the alnico bridge version. The idea for this guitar is to get full on metal riffs out of the bridge, which I intend to pair with a couple of the upcoming Cobras!

As for the whole neck on the bridge thing, I do have a Nailbomb neck laying around that I plan to try on the bridge spot of my custom baritone telecaster (walnut body, maple neck, rosewood fretboard). I will let you guys know!
